Nanjing Forestry University, as a multidisciplinary university featuring forestry and excellent   in resources, ecology and environmental disciplines.

In 2017, Nanjing Forestry University was selected as one of the  “Double First-Class Initiative”universities in China, and the discipline of forestry engineering was selected as one of the first-class disciplines in China. In 2020,   a  panel of experts from the “Double First-Class Initiative” concluded that the overall construction and discipline construction goals of our university have been fully achieved, and our   university has taken a lead globally on   wood and bamboo composite materials manufacturing, custom furniture intelligent manufacturing and other research fields.  Our   university has been listed in the USNEWS and Soft Science World University Rankings , ranking  701-800 in the soft science.

  Nanjing Forestry University excels academically . In the fourth round of discipline evaluation   throughout  China , two disciplines of forestry engineering and forestry were awarded "A+" grade and landscape architecture was awarded "A-" grade .   T he number of "A+" disciplines ran ks 22 nd  along with other universities   in China  and   the number of "A" disciplines ranks the  1 st   among   forestry universities  nationwide . There are 7 disciplines including engineering science, animal and plant science,material science, agricultural science, chemistry and environmental ecology, Biology and Biochemistry are ranked in the top 1% of ESI disciplines worldwide.

 Nanjing Forestry University  has made significant contributions   to scientific research es . We have   de eply cultivated   important tree species in the south - poplar, ginkgo, fir and bamboo and   led and support ed   the trillion-dollar forestry industry. Centering the major scientific and technological problems of China's high-quality forestry development, we have carried out joint research and become a global forerunner   of several research fields . I n the field of wood-bamboo composite materials research, we have created the bamboo molding theory, br eaking   through the core technology of wood-bamboo interface composite  and making reality t he substitution of bamboo for wood and bamboo for steel; in the field of furniture manufacturing, we have broken t hrough the key technology of furniture product s   parallel design   and intelligent manufacturing, taking a lead on the upgrading and reform of   the global furniture manufacturing industry ; i n the field of functional plant sugar biomanufacturing, we have made a breakthrough in the theory and core technology of biocatalyst targeted synthesis, and created functional oligosaccharides, galactomannan oligosaccharides, fiber oligosaccharides and   other series of pro ducts; in the field of forest pest prevention and control, we have   discovered the mechanism of pine nematode and other major biological disasters and made a breakthrough in prevention and control technology.   Since 2000, our university is ranked 49th in Chinese universities in terms of National Science and Technology Progress Award.   In the past three years, our university has published 3 academic papers in Nature and Science journals, and more than 2500 SCI papers in 2020 , rank ing the first in China's agricultural and forestry universities in terms of the increase of the number of papers published and the number of citations.
