Based on its rich teaching resources in diverse professional areas, NCTU has recently launched a series of curriculum reforms to promote cross-disciplinary skills and hands-on learning. These reforms aim at enhancing students’ multi-disciplinary abilities and cultivating potential talents for the future. The university has created several interdisciplinary curriculums that allows students to complete a minor with easily accessible resources and flexible credit requirements. It also provides a range of mini-courses to improve hands-on capabilities for cross-disciplinary studies. It also builds up several co-working maker spaces that integrate teaching and research resources of different disciplines. Besides, it innovates a brand-new undergraduate degree program, the Arete Honors Program, allowing students to create a major or a double major for themselves.
In order to expand the horizon of knowledge and learning experiences, NCTU recently refines the structure and contents of General Education for undergraduate students. Students are encouraged to gain more diverse aspects of knowledge by taking core courses of various disciplines as their General Education credits.
As a part of the commitment to internationalization, the University is expanding partnerships with leading industries and prominent academic or research institutes around the world via exchange student programs, dual degree programs, research visits and practical trainings or internships. Currently NCTU has signed 550+ agreements with almost 300 foreign universities, including 50+ duel-degree agreements. These efforts of international cooperation have greatly enhanced student mobility, increasing the numbers of both inbound and outbound students internationally.
The University also has an increasingly internationalized campus and has attracted students from more than 60 countries. As the University continues the drive for internationalization, it is constantly looking for opportunities for collaboration and exchange in all areas.
