New College of the Humanities (NCH) is a prestigious, university-level college in the heart of academic London. Small by design, we offer a unique and broad liberal arts-inspired curriculum with highly personalised teaching, including our gold standard one-to-one tutorial system.
NCH has earned its reputation as a world-class academic institution that is leading the way in UK higher education. The Times describes NCH as offering “bespoke higher education” and as being positioned “at the forefront of a new era, the academic equivalent of space travel”.
Teaching is delivered through weekly one-to-one tutorials giving NCH “the edge on even Oxbridge’s one-to-two tutorial system in one crucial way” according to The Times (June 2015). Like all teaching at NCH, one-to-one tutorials are led by qualified, inspiring and experienced academics who have a passion for teaching and who are active in research. Among other teaching styles experienced by students during their weekly 13.5 timetabled contact hours are small group tutorials or seminars, and interactive lectures with classes of fewer than 50 students, ensuring every voice is heard and every question debated.
