Siksha 'O' Anusandhan (Deemed to be University)

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan, acknowledged today as a revered seat of learning in India, started its endeavour in 1996. Ever since the institution has blossomed into a center of excellence providing quality education that meets global industry standards today. In 2007, SOA was declared a Deemed to be University u/s 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 in recognition of its excellence in technical and professional education. The institution has been accredited with 'A' Grade (2nd Cycle) by NAAC, Govt. of India. It has been granted Category-II Graded Autonomy Status by UGC, Govt. of India in 2018. SOA is actively engaged in research and education (UG, PG, Doctoral, Post-Doctoral) in Engineering & Technology, Medical & Dental Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences & Biotechnology, Management Sciences, Nursing, Hospitality & Tourism and Management, Agricultural Sciences and Law. Besides UGC approval, all the programmes have also been duly approved and recognized by respective statutory councils i.e. AICTE, MCI, DCI, PCI, INC, BCI etc.

It has been ranked internationally in the “THE World University Rankings” and “QS Asia University Rankings”. For its significant contribution, SOA has been awarded with “Diamond University Rating” by QS-I-GAUGE in 2020.

In NIRF India Rankings, SOA has been ranked 38th in Overall Category, 20th in University Category, 34th in Engineering Category, 23rd in Medical Category and 12th in Dental Category in 2020; 41st in Overall Category, 24th in University Category, 32nd in Engineering Category and 21st in Medical Category in 2019; 38th in Overall Category, 24th in University category and 19th in Medical Category in 2018; 33rd in Overall Category, 20th in University category in 2017; and in 16A in the overall category in 2016. In MHRD Swachhata Rankings, SOA has been ranked 5th (UGC Residential University category) in 2019 and ranked 3rd (Technical Institution category) in 2018.

The three B.Tech. programs have been accredited by ABET, USA and five Engineering programmes have been accredited by NBA, Govt. of India. The UG agricultural programme and the faculty of agricultural sciences have been accredited by ICAR, Govt. of India. IMS and SUM Hospital laboratories have been accredited with NABL accreditation.

SOA has created a congenial atmosphere for focused research by identifying innovative and emerging thrust areas through its multi-disciplinary research centres and research labs. It has more than 8000 research publications in high quality peer reviewed journals (including 6909 SCOPUS Indexed Research Publications) to its credit so far with h-index of 64. Significant sponsored research and consultancy projects from reputed govt. and other agencies like DST, DBT, BRNS, DRDO, CPRI, etc. add value and vigor to the credentials of the institution. SOA has substantial research scholars are pursuing their Doctoral and Post-Doctoral degree. It also provides scholarships and fellowships to the full-time research scholars as well as to the meritorious students. The teaching learning process is enriched under the supervision of Advisory Board comprising of experts from different areas from institute / organization of repute. Comparable infrastructure, modern teaching tools and inputs, competent faculty, adequate e-resources & library facilities provides an academic ambience conducive to attain the objectives set out in the mission and vision. Extension Activities & Social Outreach Programmes through Adoption of Villages, organizing ISR Activities like free medical and dental camps, Development of smart village cluster under Lab to land technology transfer, neighbor-hood development programmes. IMS & SUM hospital of SOA is aimed at helping people below the poverty line with no bed charges, nominal OT and diagnostic costs. SOA has collaborations with institutes / university / industries of national and international repute. It has set up a Community Radio Service to serve the socio-economic, cultural, educational and health problems of the people in the neighbourhood. Promotion of local culture and dying arts through SOA Community Radio (90.4 FM) - Voice of SOA Community. Rural health centres has also been created for adopted Grampanchayats. Transparency in administration, delegation of authority and functional autonomy, emphasis on quality education and research are the main forte of SOA. SOA is actively engaged in institutional social responsibility activities by undertaking different community development programs through its field centres, student clubs & chapters and NSS wings.
