The Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) is the largest and most important university in the state of Espírito Santo, located in southeastern Brazil. It is a government-funded university, which offers free and high-quality higher education, integrating teaching, research and outreach. The university was founded in 1954 and today encompasses four campuses: two in the capital city, Vitória (the headquarters in Goiabeiras and Maruípe), one in the south of the state (Alegre) and another in the north of the state (São Mateus).
