University of Chichester
About
Established in 2005, the University of Chichester can trace its origins to the 1800s and an institution for training ‘masters’ and teachers. Now, this West Sussex institution has 14 departments, including humanities, sport, education and musical theater.
The university’s main campus is in the historic cathedral city of Chichester and buildings on campus are a blend of the historic and modern. There is also a campus at nearby Bognor Regis, five minutes from the seafront. This leafy campus is dominated by three grand Georgian mansions: St Michael’s, the Dome and Mordington House.
Whether you’re based on the main campus or in Bognor Regis, there are plenty of things to do and see while outside your studies. Chichester’s cathedral is one of the most notable in England, while the Chichester Festival Theatre is highly regarded and is often where A-list plays and musicals debut before transferring to London’s West End. Bognor Regis also has a strong cultural scene, with the International Bognor Birdman - a competition for human-powered ‘flying’ machines, most of which fall off the town’s pier and into the sea below - a particular highlight.
