The University of Danang (UD) is a regional multi-level, multi-disciplinary university training human resources for the Central Area and Western Highlands of Vietnam. It is one of the three leading centers for training, scientific research, technology transfer, and international cooperation of Vietnam. Established on April 4th, 1994, UD has 14 member-universities with nearly 2,400 lecturers and staff (more than 80% hold a master’s degree and more than 30% hold a doctoral degree), and 52,376 students, including graduate students, Ph.D. students, and more than 400 international students.

UD is the first regional university in Vietnam with four member-universities accredited and recognized to reach national standards (10/2016). In June 2017, University of Science and Technology – UD (UD-DUT) became one of four universities in Vietnam to reach the international accreditation standard by the French High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES).

In addition, UD aims to become a Research-Oriented University by 2020 and has made rapid progress toward achieving that goal. These efforts have been recognized and several recent achievements include:

  • UD ranked fourth in the top 100 universities in Vietnam (the Academic year 2016-2017).
  • The opening of the solar power system at UD-DUT, establishing our institution as the first green university in Central Vietnam.
  • The debut of the UD Maker Innovation Space—the most advanced innovation center among all education institutions in Vietnam and second maker space in the whole country of Vietnam.
  • UD was recently chosen as one of three caliber university urban by the Ministry of Education and Training.
  • International Cooperation and Technology Science activities have brought funds of more than five million USD and 439 international papers (including 125 articles published in ISI / SCOPUS journals with high ratings) for UD.

In the process of integration and development, UD has continuously expanded the cooperative relationships with prestigious domestic and international universities, research institutes, and scientific organizations. Every year, hundreds of UD’s young faculties are sent abroad for higher education training and study in the form of teaching-research teams (TRTs) in the top, notable educational systems. UD has been effectively operating the TRT; investing and developing asynchronous and efficient infrastructure, and deploying many works and inventions to contribute to science and serve the community.

Moreover, UD has hosted many international research projects:

EMM ASIA Project (in collaboration with European and Asian Universities)
HUB4GROWTH Project (European Community cooperates with 12 European and Asian Universities and Organizations)
HR4ASIA Project (in collaboration with 12 European and Southeast Asian Universities)
    USAID COMET Project
University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (France) to establish Danang International Institute of Technology - DNIIT
