About
The University of St.Gallen (HSG), Switzerland, was founded as a "Business Academy" in 1898 - in the heyday of the St.Gallen embroidery industry - and offered its first lectures in 1899. The HSG continues to pursue the goal of providing its more than 9,000 students with a practice-oriented education, guided by an integrative view of Management, Economics, Law, Social Sciences, International Affairs and from autumn semester 2022 Computer Science. In its 2020 ranking of European business Schools, The Financial Times recognised the University of St.Gallen as one of the best in Europe. Rising up to the seventh position, the HSG has the distinction of being both the leading business university in Switzerland and in the German-speaking region. International accreditations by the EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA underline our commitment to a holisitic curriculum that meets the highest academic standards.

Bilingual Bachelor's studies
At the University of St.Gallen (HSG), Bachelor's studies consist of the Assessment Year and studies in the major. After three years, successful students are awarded the internationally recognised degree of Bachelor of Arts HSG.
You will be able to complete the Assessment Year either in German or in English. Students who intend to choose the German-language majors in Law, or in Law and Economics, have to complete the Assessment Year in German. Those who plan to major in Business Administration, Economics or International Affairs can choose either the German or English track of the Assessment Year as these majors are bilingual.
All students doing a bilingual Bachelor's programme have to attend at least two courses taught in the other language. Students who choose the English-language tack of the Assessment Year are not required to speak German prior to their studies. They can learn German while they are studying and can attend the courses taught in German at the end of the Bachelor's programme. German classes are offered by the HSG's Language Center.
