ENSCI-Les Ateliers is the leading French national institute for advanced study in industrial design and textile. Its programme covers all aspects of contemporary design practice within the context of 21st century industrial society. Design, at the crossroads of the sciences, arts and industry, is considered as the «science» of objects and their usage, as well as the creative dimension of the innovation process.
ENSCI is an active partner in a network of leading educational and research institutions, created to stimulate dialogue between design students and researchers from the sciences/social sciences. As specialists in innovation, ENSCI focuses on working in project partnerships with national/international companies and with the public sector.
International partnerships allow the institution to find its place in a world undergoing profound change.
Recent agreements with the National University of Singapore and CHIBA University in Japan have opened up new strategic partnerships in Asia. In Europe, ENSCI-Les Ateliers is one of the seven founder institutions of the MEDes (Master of European Design).
In 2011, ENSCI created the ENSCI-Paris DESIS Lab®. The first laboratory of its kind in France, it draws support from the DESIS network (Design for Social Innovation and Sustainability).
