About
Founded in Milan in 1982, Domus Academy was the first post-graduate design school in Italy representing an open project focusing on Italian Design and Fashion. Throughout the years, Domus Academy has established its importance as a school for post-graduate education focusing on the processes of industrial creativity, aesthetic and consumption scenarios, space and time relations, public and private services. Strongly rooted in Italy, Domus Academy has an international perspective and approach aimed at enriching, spreading, and updating the design culture while putting advanced knowledge in relation with visionary projects.
Domus Academy methodology is rooted in the learning by designing approach, where learning means investigating, researching and developing ideas and projects based on real business needs and requirements. Central to the success of Domus Academy are its professors, highly skilled professionals bringing a current and real-world perspective to lectures and projects.
The educational offering includes 12 one-year Masters programs: Business Design, Product Design, Fashion Design, Interaction Design, Interior & Living Design, Urban Vision & Architectural Design, Fashion Management, Fashion Styling & Visual Merchandising, Visual Brand Design, Luxury Brand Management, Information Design, Service Design.
Upon graduation students can earn an Academic Master Degree (60 ECTS credits) accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR) – in addition to the Domus Academy Master Diploma.
Due to its proximity to the professional design world, Domus Academy has developed an extensive network of connections and relationships with many of the most prestigious companies and studios such as Moncler, Pomellato, Flos, Elica, Stone Island, Timberland, Pininfarina, KRIZIA, Procter&Gamble, YOOX, The Coca-Cola Company, Versace, BVLGARI, Wired, Vogue, MAGIS, CISCO, Salvatore Ferragamo, Technogym, KARTELL, Natuzzi, Italia Independent, GROM, Kickstarter.
In 1994 Domus Academy was awarded the Compasso d’Oro for its career and the quality of its teaching programs, as well as for its attention to advanced topics which all contribute to making Domus Academy a crucial actor in the development of Italian design. In 2009, for the third consecutive year, Business Week included Domus Academy within the 60 Best Design schools in the world. From 2012 to 2015, Domus Academy was selected by Frame and included in the Masterclass Frame Guide to the 30 World’s Leading Graduate Design, Architecture, Interior Design and Fashion Schools; from 2012 to 2017 the school was selected by Domus Magazine as one of Europe’s Top 100 Schools of Architecture and Design, as well as in 2016 and 2017 Domus Academy was selected by Azure Magazine among the 8 Top Interior Design Schools around the world and selected by Business of Fashion as one of the Top Global Fashion Schools.
