Doshisha University was founded in 1875 by Joseph Hardy Neesima (Jo Niijima), who became one of the six great educators of the Meiji era. The three educational principles of Liberalism, Internationalism, and Christian Principles have been passed on to us since its foundation, and students are encouraged to nurture a sense of freedom, independence, and conscience.Doshisha offers graduate programs in various fields of study, providing many research opportunities. The university has respected graduate schools in Theology, Letters, Social Studies, Law, Economics, Commerce, Policy and Management, Culture and Information Science, Science and Engineering, Life and Medical Sciences, Health and Sports Science, Psychology,Global Communications, Global and Regional Studies,Global Studies, and Brain Science.
