The audiovisual industry requires advanced technical skills combined with strong artistic qualities. It is this double ambition that ESRA and its professors propose to share with young students who are passionate about these professions. International students can now enroll in our International programs to benefit from this approach.
The training courses offered are both practical and theoretical from the 1st year, and include internships in the workplace. After a common core for the first two years, ESRA offers the possibility in 3rd year to choose one of the following 6 options:
Cinema Director
Series Director
TV Director

Editing / Special Effects
Production
The International 1 year Filmmaking program in English provides a solid foundation in filmmaking: combining theoretical knowledge about the history and art of cinema, with ‘hands-on’ technical training using film, sound, and lighting equipment. While classes deepen their knowledge and appreciation of filmmaking - as an art, a process and an industry - students also participate in group projects and can borrow school equipment to write, direct and shoot their own short movies in their free time. The program offers students an overview of the various jobs involved in the production of films and television. This allows them to determine which major to pursue in third year, which further studies or training they may need, and what career they would like to have in the filmmaking and television industry.
ESRA International also offers a 3 year Filmmaking Bachelor program in English.
The 1 year program also includes weekly French language classes, and those who have completed the one year program in English can also decide to continue the program for two extra years to obtain the three year program Bachelor and by choosing a major in third year. Students also have the option to do a first internship in the film and television industry at the end of the one year program. Although students are responsible for searching and finding their internship, ESRA International provides lists of offers, alumni contacts, professional directories, insurance and any documents to allow the students to follow internships in France or abroad.
In addition, ESRA graduates can follow a 4th year training course in New York.
ESRA is a state-recognized institution that has been awarding a diploma since 1992 aimed at Bac+3, the DESRA, Diplôme d’Etudes Supérieures de Réalisation Audiovisuelle.
The programs include : - Theoretical classes and practical workshops (average 20h per week) - Faculty are professionals in activity or recognized researchers - 2 Productions per year - 1 short movie production per year - Technical equipment available for training and extracurricular productions - Internships - Distribution of short movies in film festivals around the world"
