In Russia, the new two-stage education form has been approved since September 2009. In 1996, bachelor’s and master’s degrees were already approved by the law as the levels of training and were considered as higher education which was alternative to traditional one. Initially, the Bologna model of education required only two higher education qualifications: “bachelor” and “master”. But this is not consistent with the traditional Soviet one-stage education system. The reduction was done through joining small specialties in general courses. For instance, bachelor’s students of Economics get a diploma without specialization.
