Omsk State Pedagogical University

Academic year at the university is divided into two terms. The autumn term begins on the 1st of September and ends in the middle of December. The examination period is from the end of December till the beginning of January.

The spring term begins in February - March and ends in May - June. The examination period is from June till the beginning of July.

There are three basic modes of study at Russian higher education institutions:

• Full-time (daytime);
• Evening classes;
• Part-time.

The point rating system is implemented at most higher education institutions. Thus, the points are given for certain types of work done by students throughout the term. The certain number of the points is given for the exam or test. Then all these points are summarized, and the final rating point on the subject is received. This point is transferred to the traditional grading system. 

OSPU arrange and support scientific research and internship programs for graduates and undergraduates from different countries in Russian History, Russian literature, Philology (Russian Linguistics), Linguocultural studies, Ecology. The program is compiled in accordance with the applicant's request and can include lectures, workshops and master classes, visits to museums and libraries.

To apply for a program candidate should send an application form  and a copy of passport to the Office of International Cooperation via email common@omgpu.ru.

After the approval of the application the candidate should provide OSPU with the following documents:

1. CV.
2. Document of education (Diploma or Secondary school certificate).
3. Medical certificate. 
4. https://omgpu.ru/abiturientu
5. HIV certificate.

Once the documents received the University provides the candidate with an official visa invitation. The process takes 4-6 weeks. EU citizens applying for short-course programs as Summer school, Winter school or Language courses are provided with a facilitated letter of invitation via email.

The realization of the tasks and guidelines of the educational activity is carried out through the mechanism of implementation of target programs that reflect various aspects of student life and the specific needs of the personality formation of a future teacher. These specific programs are developed on an as-needed basis and according to the existence of conditions for their implementation.

The main components of such programs are healthy lifestyle, student self-governance, student scientific enterprise, aesthetics of collegial life, student creative works, patriotic education, linguistic education of future specialist, and traditions of OSPU. There are many projects and programs that develop the professional and creative skills of the students, such as “My Initiative in Education”, “The Best Student of the Year” awards, volunteers unions of OSPU, “School of the Leaders”, and “School of the Press Photographer”.  There is a variety of student unions on arts at OSPU.

Sports and recreation activities are important components of the educational work and leisure of students. Every year, we have olympiads in 16 sports. All ten university schools take part in the olympiads. In addition, our university conducts massive sports events on festive occasions.
