The University of Taubaté - commonly referred to as UNITAU - is the largest institution of higher education and research in the Valley of Paraíba River. The Valley of Paraíba River is the region between the States of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro which is comprised of important cities such as Taubaté itself and São José dos Campos, which boasts a major technological and aerospace center.
UNITAU is influential in the area of higher education in our region, having educated countless professionals with bachelors’, masters' and doctors' degrees now working at governmental and private companies all over Brazil.
With its several accomplishments throughout its 53 years, UNITAU continues to evolve in the areas of education, science, technology and community service.

41 undergraduate courses attended by approximately 13,000 students;
80 graduate courses (including 8 MBA's, 7 for Masters' and 1 for Doctors' degrees and 1 Post-Doc);
All courses have been accredited by the Higher Education Coordinating Office (Capes) of the Federal Ministry of Education.
Extension and community relations:
50 Extension and Refresher Courses attended by 24,000 students;
33 Projects.

50 Research Groups accredited by CNPQ (National Board for Research);
7 online journals, comprising a number of knowledge areas, from Social Sciences to Medicine.
