Univali, one of the largest higher education institutions in Brazil, is a member of the Brazilian National System of Education accredited by the Brazilian Ministry of Education. It is a communitarian university recognized by serving the community in many different areas in teaching, research, and extension, as well as for promoting local and global growth through the production and socialization of knowledge.
Located on the central northern coast of the State of Santa Catarina, it has campuses in seven towns: Itajaí, Balneário Camboriú, Balneário Piçarras, Biguaçu, Florianópolis, São José and Tijucas. In 2015, more than 20,000 students were enrolled in more than 50 undergraduate programs, 60 specialization courses, 10 master’s degree programs and 6 PhDs.
In order to reach its goals, Univali counts with the University Pediatric Hospital “Pequeno Anjo”, the Family and Community Health Clinic, Clinics of Physiotherapy, Psychology, Speech and Hearing Therapy, Dentistry, Esthetics, a TV Channel and a Radio Station, the Ecomuseum Univali , the Oceanographic Museum, Legal Assistance Office, Immigration and Refugee Legal and Humanitarian Assistance, as well the Monitoring of Brazilian Southern Fauna Coast Program, in agreement with Petrobras, the Brazilian Oil Company.
