UENF (Darcy Ribeiro North Fluminense State University), located in Campos dos Goytacazes, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, is an institution where academic research in several areas is included in the daily routine of professors, students and technical servers. Designed by Darcy Ribeiro – a famous Brazilian intellectual who has founded or reformed several universities around the world-, UENF is recognized as one of the best universities in Brazil, according to official evaluations of the Brazilian federal government. In 2003 and 2009, UENF received (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development) the ‘Highlight of the Year Award in the Scientific Initiation’ from CNPq, what means that UENF is considered the university which best prepares students for academic career. Innovative and creative, UENF has created the first graduation in Petroleum Exploitation and Production Engineering from Brazil and has a campus in Macaé city, where the basis of operation of Campos Basin is located.
