Universidade Veiga de Almeida (UVA) offers undergraduate, Technology Certificates, Graduate, Masters and Extension programs. The University has four campi, three of them in the city of Rio de Janeiro and the fourth located in Cabo Frio, North coast of Rio de Janeiro Province. Acting in higher education since 1971, UVA is presently among the top 10 Brazilian private education universities, according to the National Examination of Students' Performance (Enade, 2008 to 2010). In its latest comprehensive assessment, made in 2009, the National Institute of Educational Studies (INEP), which produces market intelligence to the Ministry of Education (MEC), gave the overall concept to UVA 4, on a scale of 1 to 5.
Some of UVA’s undergraduate courses had the highest Enade’s score in the entire country, such as Accounting (Rio), Physical Education (Cabo Frio), Pedagogy (Rio), Process Management (Rio) and Social Services (Cabo Frio).
Due to this distinguished quality level, in January 2011 UVA joined the Network of American Universities, an organization that promotes higher education solutions in North and Latin America, with an emphasis on internationalization of affiliated universities, distance education and academic exchange among institutions.
UVA has about 22,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs, and more than 1,300 faculty and staff.
