Based in Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh Napier University is an innovative university inspired and deeply connected to the world around it. We have a reputation for the employability of our graduates, our international reach, the diversity of our student community, and our engagement with business through research and enterprise. Over 95% of our graduates are in work or further study within six months of graduating (HESA 2016/2017).
We are an international community with over 19,000 students from over 140 countries studying in Edinburgh, overseas with partners and online. We teach a huge variety of industry relevant on-campus and online undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, taught and research opportunities. Our approach is to combine professional know-how with an academic approach and work-related learning to help our students succeed beyond university.
Students are based within one of our six Schools: Applied Sciences; Health & Social Care; Arts & Creative Industries; Computing; Engineering & the Built Environment and The Business School.
We have three campuses in Edinburgh offering advanced facilities for learning, teaching and research. These include specialist facilities for sport & exercise science, engineering, computing, life sciences, journalism, TV& film, design, photography, nursing, midwifery and supporting new business-start ups. We also offer a range of online and distance learning courses.
Research
Our research is helping to find solutions to problems in society and improving lives in Scotland and across the globe. In 2015, we were awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for our internationally acclaimed work in timber engineering, sustainable construction and wood science. This is the most prestigious award for the UK higher education sector for the impact of research on business, industry, environment and society – nationally and internationally. This was the second triumph for our School of Engineering & the Built Environment following a previous success in 2009.
