The University of Bath was founded in 1966; It is firmly established as one of the best Universities in the UK, regularly achieving both top research (5th in the UK) and teaching ('excellent') ratings in the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) assessments. Bath has one of the few libraries in the UK that is open 24/7. The University's Sports Training Village offers some of the best sporting facilities in the country and a number of Olympic athletes train on campus.The University is one of the smaller universities in Britain, supporting a hard-working, hard playing community approaching some 10,000 students, including over 700 international students as well as a cosmopolitan postgraduate community of over 3,000. It is designed as a compact, self-contained complex of academic buildings, student accommodation and sports facilities, on a 200 acre campus. Bath is one of the most interesting and cosmopolitan cities in the UK. It is also the only city in the UK to be included in UNESCO's World Heritage list. London is approximately one hour and a half from Bath by train and Bristol is about fifteen minutes away. Bristol International airport provides fast access to an ever increasing number of destinations.
