The University of Dundee was established in 1881 and focuses on teaching traditional and professional degrees using innovative approaches. We are one of the UK’s top 20 universities (Guardian University Guide 2021) and we have some of the best levels of graduate employment in the UK – in fact, we are 1 st in Scotland for the proportion of graduates entering high skilled employment (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2020).
The University of Dundee is organised into ten Schools containing multiple disciplines:

- School of Business
- School of Dentistry
- School of Education and Social Work
- School of Humanities
- School of Life Sciences
- School of Medicine
- School of Health Sciences
- School of Science and Engineering
- School of Social Sciences
Each School offers a variety of undergraduate, taught postgraduate and research courses in a wide range of subjects. Most courses are led by research, with students learning from those on the cutting edge of their discipline.
We are recognised for our excellent learning and teaching and we are 1 st in the UK for Creative Writing and in the top five for Forensic Science, Education, Medicine, Biomedical Science and Pharmacology & Pharmacy (Complete University Guide 2022).
We understand that studying in the UK can be a large financial commitment and we want to help. That’s why we offer a number of scholarship opportunities for international students who want to study at the University of Dundee, including the Global Excellence Scholarship of up to £5,000 per year of study, which is automatically awarded to our most inspiring applicants.
Our city campus is a self-contained student community where everything is close together and we provide top-class facilities to give students the best experience possible.
Accommodation
The majority of our student accommodation is on or close to city campus, with classes never too far away. All student accommodation at the University of Dundee has single occupancy
bedrooms, with an en-suite shower room, in self-contained flats of five to ten students. Each flat has its own kitchen, dining and living space with access to the University’s fast wifi.
Library
Located on city campus, Dundee’s main library offers everything you would expect from a modern university library, including a café and relaxation areas, group study rooms with the
latest technology, and flexible, creative spaces.
As well as our main library, our students also have access to our libraries at Kirkcaldy, Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, and Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design.
Student Services
We offer a range of services which are designed to support students during their studies. The Enquiry Centre is a central hub for any and all questions, and our team can direct you to
available services such as the Student Funding Unit, International Advice Service, Academic Skills Centre and Disability Services.
Institute of Sport and Exercise (ISE)
The Institute of Sport and Exercise is the home of sport and exercise at the University of Dundee. Located on city campus, ISE offer a wide range of indoor and outdoor sports facilities.
These include a state-of-the-art gym and training suite, squash and tennis courts, two sports halls and a swimming pool.
ISE works closely with Dundee University Sports Union, offering more than 40 sports clubs, ranging from traditional sports like netball and golf to Ultimate Frisbee and skydiving.
Dundee is a dynamic and multicultural city with a large student population and was recently named the most fun place to be a student in Scotland (Study Inn 2021). It is also an affordable place to live, with private rent in Dundee costing on average 25% less than the Scottish national average (Citylets Rental Report Q3, 2020).
Our compact city campus has an ideal location in Dundee, with the city’s best shops, cafés, restaurants, and beautiful green spaces within walking distance. There are also museums, art
galleries, and theatres close by.
Located on city campus, Dundee University Students’ Association (DUSA) offers facilities including bars, cafés, a nightclub and a convenience store.
DUSA also supports over 250 student societies, bringing together groups of students who all share the same interest. Joining a student society is a great way to make new friends and settle into life at
Dundee and with the broad range of societies on offer, students can keep up with a current hobby or try something completely different.
