University offers 82 Postgraduate programmes – MD/MS (Medical) (78), PG diploma (53), Super Speciality course (6), M.Sc. Allied (46), Fellowship Courses (5), MDS (23), MD/MS Ayurveda (36), M.Pharm / Pharm.D (Belagavi, Hubballi & Bengaluru ) (163), MPT (47), M.Sc. Nursing (17). Admission to various programs / courses is through UGAIET & PGAIET (up to 2012-15) and from 2015-16 onwards as per NEET guidelines.
The revision of the syllabus is undertaken once in three years keeping in view the guidelines of the regulatory bodies, wherever applicable. The feedbacks obtained from students, alumni, industries, peers and subject experts are utilized to improvise on existing programs and curriculum.
Academic Calendar of Events formulated at the beginning of every academic session acts as a guide for structured undergraduate teaching-learning process.
The teaching-learning process of postgraduates is according to the syllabus prescribed by the regulatory bodies and the University. The teaching process is divided into modules which the postgraduate student has to abide by.
The clinical rotation plan, master rotation plan, teaching plan, course / unit plan depict the structured mechanism of postgraduate teaching-learning process. The University has 5 satellite health care centers located at a distance ranging from 50 to 100 kms where the postgraduate students and faculty are posted on rotational basis. Teaching-learning process of some postgraduate courses also includes compulsory publication of research articles and paper /poster presentations at conferences.
Research projects of postgraduate and Ph.D scholars are in collaboration with external institutions like World Health Organization (WHO), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS), Pharmaceutical industries and foreign Universities like, University of Illinois, Chicago, USA, Rhodes University, South Africa, National Institute of Child Health Department (as follow-up projects) (NICHD, USA), etc. Ethics in research is an integral part of teaching for postgraduate students and research scholars of all disciplines of the University.
National-level postgraduate exchange programmes are available in some departments.
