Founded in 1964, the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) is an independent, not-for-profit professional membership organisation with a current membership base of close to 19,000 corporations and individuals. For close to 40 years, SIM has contributed significantly to Singapore's human capital development and has grown to become the premier management and human resource development organisation in Singapore. With an enrolment exceeding 15,500, SIM offers two doctoral, 14 masters, 47 bachelors and over 30 graduate diploma, diploma and certificate programmes. SIM annually trains more than 11,500 executives through about 500 seminars, workshops and conferences. SIM's well-established consultancy services offer comprehensive training programmes to help companies achieve effectiveness in various fields of management. With its experience in running continuing education programmes for working adults, SIM was selected by the Ministry of Education in 1992 to run the SIM Open University Centre (previously known as SIM-Open University Degree Programme) in Singapore. The re-named SIM-OUC reflects its new identity as an accredited institution of The Open University of the United Kingdom. The Institute's commitment is reflected through its vital role in: Developing human resources Assisting organisations to achieve effectiveness Providing a forum for the exchange of knowledge and access to research and information relevant to the changing economic landscape SIM is the first educational and training institute in Asia to be awarded the PSB ISO 9002 certification for its management and delivery of programmes and services (1993) and the People Developer Standard (1999), an award that recognises its commitment to staff development. In 2002, SIM attained the Singapore Quality Class (SQC) for business excellence. The SQC recognises organisations with a commendable record performance, productivity and quality. In 2003, SIM was awarded Singapore Quality Class for Private Education Organisations, an enhanced SQC programme for business excellence in the education sector. The Institute's headquarters is located at 461 Clementi Road. It has two other centres; SIM Management House and SIM Open University Centre.
