Birmingham City University
About
Birmingham City University successfully combines innovative teaching and learning, innovative student support and effective partnerships with some of the country’s leading employers. Our commitment to developing graduates with the skills and experience employers need means that 97 per cent of our students are in employment or further study within six months of graduating (Destination of Leavers from HE survey 2016/17) – which places us in the top ten multi-disciplinary institutions in the UK.
We focus on practice-led, knowledge-based learning, providing you with access to cutting-edge facilities and real-world experience. The University enjoys around 50 professional accreditations and has a well-established reputation for delivering in-company training and development programmes.
We welcome over 24,500 students from over 100 countries to study with us. If you’re an international student and you need a helping hand before starting at BCU, you can attend Birmingham City University International College (BCUIC), which offers a range of dedicated pathway programmes with additional academic support to help prepare you for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. BCUIC is a good choice for you if you don’t meet the academic or English language requirements to go straight onto one of our courses, or if you have been away from education for some time and want to improve your skills before coming to BCU.
We’ve just finished investing £260 million in our campuses and facilities. We have three brand new buildings at our City Centre Campus: The Parkside Building for design and media students, which opened in 2013, The Curzon Building, which houses business, law, social science and English courses as well as new library, IT and student support facilities and opened in 2015, and our new music building for the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire which opened in 2017. A new building for Education, Sport and Life Science courses opened at our City South Campus in 2018.
At Birmingham City University, the UK’s second largest city is just minutes’ walk from your campus, and we can’t wait to welcome you to our buzzing, young and diverse city.
If you are an international student and do not quite meet our direct entry requirements, you could consider Birmingham City University International College (BCUIC), our affiliate international college. BCUIC provides a wide range of pathway programmes leading to over 120 of our degrees, enabling international students to study with us from a slightly lower entry point. Students can join BCUIC in September, January or May for Foundation, First Year and Pre-Master’s programmes.
