B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent University, was started as Crescent Engineering College in the year 1984, to serve for the higher educational needs of the socially backward sections of society. In 2009, the institution was granted Deemed to be University Status under section 3 of the UGC act-1956.
The University is accredited with “A” grade by NAAC in May 2014. Eight Post Graduate and five Undergraduate programs of the university are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), which is a signatory to Washington Accord.
In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), which is a Government of India initiative, the University was ranked at 54th rank at the all India level in the year 2016.
The ‘h’ index of the University is 32. The university has taken up many research projects with government and industrial funding. Currently 21 projects worth rupees 45.34 millions (INR) are being carried out.
The institution has maintained close interaction with industries like Ford India and Apollo Tyres and international Universities like Purdue University.
The University is located in a 50.19 acre campus. The institute has taken many green initiatives including green certified buildings, 250 kVA grid connected solar power plant and waste management initiatives.
