Candidates must first meet the minimum eligibility in order to qualify for an admission test. Combined Grade Point Average (GPA) from their high school results must meet a minimum standard of 60%-80%, and this percentage varies for candidates, depending on which board of examination their high school was completed under.
Candidates scoring acceptable scores in the admission test will advance to next stages of the admission process, which includes further screening and direct interviews with a panel of selected judges.
Admission test can be waivered for candidates with high scoring SAT of at least 1000. NSU also waives the test for candidates with minimum 500 (CBT 213/IBT 79) in TOEFL OR Minimum 5.5 in IELTS. Specific eligibility is also required by some specific programs in the undergraduate level.
Currently there are 17,000 students in the undergraduate level. More than 100 students are international students, hailing from countries across many continents.
The average cost of attending NSU as a student availing state-of-the-art facilities is also at par with other private Universities in Bangladesh. And the estimated cost of attending NSU for an undergraduate is around $1800-3000 per academic year. Moreover students also have the opportunity to utilize financial aid in the form of academic scholarships, tuition waiver, study loans, and student employment.
Since its inception to Spring Semester of 2018, NSU disbursed a significant amount of $ 11 million (92 Crore BDT) as financial aid. A total of 1369 students have been granted full/partial tuition waiver in Fall Semester of 2017. Out of which, 358 students granted full (100%) waiver, 151 students 75%, 370 students enjoyed 50% and 490 students 25% tuition waiver which altogether stands about $ 1.2 million (10 Crore BDT) per year on an average.
