Udmurt State University offers a variety of postgraduate programmes on master, specialist and doctorate levels.
Master's degree is a second-cycle academic degree that requires previous study at the bachelor's level. Duration of studies is 2 years. Admissions are open to 83 master degree programmes in 36 study fields.
Specialist Degrees are more focused on practical work in industries according to the selected discipline. These programmes are offered to individuals who have education equivalent to the Russian general secondary or vocational secondary education. Duration of studies is 5 years. Specialist Degree Holders may work in industry or further their studies on a Master's or doctorate course. There are ten specialist degree programmes at UdSU.
Doctorate programmes are open to holders of Master's or Specialist Degrees. The course includes study, teaching, hands-on experience, and research. Doctorate students select a research field and subject of research for their dissertations. Full-time study lasts at least 3 years, while part-time study lasts at least 4 years. Upon successful dissertation defence, a Candidate of Sciences Degree is awarded, which is the first Degree to confirm the status of scientist. We offer doctorate programmes in 18 study fields. At UdSU there are two Dissertation Boards: on literary studies and linguistics.
Candidates of Sciences proceed to their post-doctoral degree that is awarded following the successful defence of their dissertations.
